Barbara J. Householder, formerly of Junction City, OH passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25th, 2017 in Naples FL.

Bobbie, was born May 25, 1926 on her Grandfather Bibler’s farm in Hancock County near Findlay Ohio. She was born pre-mature so immediately after her birth, the country doctor, certain the baby could not survive, laid tiny Bobbie to the side and directed all his attention to her mother.

Grandma Bibler instinctively placed little Bobbie on the oven door to act as an incubator. Bobbie survived without any adverse effects the next 91 years of her life.

Bobbie’s father, Ross Haas was a banker and following the Great Crash of 1929 he moved the family across Ohio reopening financial institutions. Findlay, Fostoria, Sandusky, Tipp City and Zanesville were all cities young Bobbie called home as her father reopened financial institutions, got them up and running then moved on. In 1938 the Haas family moved to New Lexington as her father joined the newly organized Peoples National Bank, he remained with the bank until his death in 1981.

Bobbie graduated in 1945 from New Lexington High School where she was a cheerleader. She met a Junction City farm boy named Bud Householder during her senior year, they fell in love and were married in 1947.

Although she was a self professed “city girl”, over the next 42 years the couple lived on the Householder farm on State Route 37 between Junction City and New Lexington. Their family grew as they had three children, Lynda (born 1949), Janet (born 1951) and Larry (born 1959). The couple’s closest friends were Paul and Bessie Masterson, Bill and Mona Thomas and Jim and Joy Wolfe. They laughed often of the great memories of their dances and dinner parties together through the years.

Her husband Bud was a strong strapping farm boy and keen businessman, but due to childhood flu he had an enlarged heart which later in life caused multiple heart attacks, aneurism’s and eventually led to his death in 1989 at age 64.

Following Bud’s death, Bobbie remained at the farm for the next twenty years where she celebrated the birth of nine grandchildren, suffered through the untimely death of her daughter Lynda in 1991 and her four year old granddaughter Kaley in 1992. Bobbie provided loving care for her aging mother, Gladys Haas, who died in 2005.

All Bobbie’s children and grandchildren have fond memories of laughing, playing on the family farm and the unconditional love of the family matriarch. In 2009 steep stair steps and harsh winters took their toll and Bobbie moved to Naples FL where she lived comfortably until her passing.

Barbara J. Householder was preceded in death by her husband, Enos “Bud” Householder, a daughter Lynda K. Householder, a granddaughter Kaley S. Householder, her in laws, Enos and Olline “Eppley” Householder and her parents Ross H. and Gladys M. “Bibler” Haas.

She is survived by two children, Janet S. “Householder” McClaskey of Naples FL and Larry L. (Taundra) Householder of Glenford, OH., eight grandchildren, Michael Turnes of Somerset OH, Shaun (Nadine) McClaskey of Cape Coral FL, Sherry “McClaskey” (Eric) Matas of Fort Lauderdale FL, Derek Householder of New Lexington, Adam Householder of New Lexington, Matthew (Jamie) Householder of Thornville, Nathan Householder of Somerset, Luke Householder of Glenford and one great grandchild, Cane McClaskey of San Diego CA.

Bobbie was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a sixty-seven year member of the New Lexington Carnation Chapter of the Eastern Star.

She had a warm heart, an engaging smile and was famous for singing her family awake in the morning so everyone started their day in a happy mood. She loved life, her family, her friends and her Creator.

“In the night of death, hope see’s a star and listening love hears the rustle of a wing’.
