David G. Howdyshell, 82, of New Lexington, Ohio died at 7:40am on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare-Homestead Center, Lancaster, Ohio.
Born February 11, 1935 in Junction City, Ohio to the late Walter and Zella Nutter Howdyshell.
Dave was one of the former owners and operators of Howdyshell Lumber; a lifetime member of the New Lexington Baptist Church; 50 year member of New Lexington Lodge #250 F & AM; Carnation Chapter # 167, O.E.S.; he was an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter and a great family man.
Survived by his wife, Shirley Blanton Howdyshell; children, David Howdyshell, Jr., Nancy (Joe) Flautt, Lori (Tim) Thomas and Lisa (Roger) Hinkle; grandchildren, Cherry (Kevin) Lambert, David Howdyshell, III, Daniel (Alisa) Howdyshell, Will (Ashlee) Flautt, Alan Flautt (Lacey Ross), Kendall (Ryan) Foster, Matt Thomas (Amy Sheets), Brandon Thomas (Emily Poling), Christy (Todd) Pollock, Roger (Heather) Hinkle, Jr., Stacie Hinkle (Kevin Radigan); 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Russell E. Howdyshell, Helen Helser, Dorothy Sidwell, Barbara Callahan, Mary Shonkwiler and Betty Groshong Allen; brother-in-law, Lynn Blanton.
In addition to his parents, preceded in death by his siblings, Nancy Howdyshell, Walter J. Howdyshell and Henson H. Howdyshell; brother-in-law, Gene Blanton.
Calling hours will be held from 2pm-5pm with Masonic Lodge services at 5pm and O.E.S. services at 5:15pm on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the New Lexington Baptist Church, 890 South Main Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 6:00pm on Sunday at the church with Pastor Tom Wallace and Pastor James Allison officiating.
