Frederick L. Baker of Six Mile Turn, Ohio, went to be with the Lord at 6:11am Friday, November 4, 2016 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio.

Fred was born on September 24, 1931 to the late Ivan E. and Helen M. (Giles) Baker. He attended Crooksville High School, and as a boy, rode his bicycle all over town delivering newspapers. Fred was a member of the United States Army and served from 1951-1953 during the Korean War, stationed in Aberdeen, Maryland, then White Sands, New Mexico. On December 1, 1955, he married Nola Stoneburner and they had 5 children together.

Fred worked as a layout inspector at Rockwell International for 38 years until retirement in 1994. He was a proud member of the Moxahala United Methodist Church and the John Tague Post 188 American Legion. He enjoyed fishing trips to Piedmont, Burr Oak, and the Muskingum River ever since he was young, and was particularly fond of his trips to Canada. Fred had a love of trees, especially Walnut, and in the summer you could find him at the kitchen counter peeling an apple from the tree out back. He enjoyed hunting, mostly deer, grouse, and squirrel, and tinkering in the garage. He spent every morning completing the puzzles in the newspaper, and he always had a Lemon Drop for the grand and great grandkids. More than anything else, Fred will be remembered for the stories he told. He had a story on almost every topic, and could make anyone want to sit and talk for hours. And if he didn't make you smirk from his dry type of humor, you would definitely learn something from the conversation. Fred will be greatly missed, but he lives on in so many from the stories he shared.

Fred is survived by his children, Larry (Thonia) Baker of Corning, Terry (Kathy) Baker of New Lexington, Doug (Linda) Baker of Cincinnati, Dianna (Charlie) Searles of Moxahala, and Debra (David) Black of Joliet, IL, a sister, Judy (C.E.) Haley of Lancaster, brother-in-law, Joe Rieger of Lombard, IL, sister-in-law, Sharon Baker of New Lexington, 10 grandchildren, Travis Nash, Emily Baker, Chuck Searles, Joe Baker, Katie Barret, Sarah Baker, Christina Searles, Mary Hu, Hannah Black, and Chloe Black, and 8 great grandchildren, Zoey, Levi, Gavin, Abby, Lily, Eli, Everett, and Charley.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nola Baker, on October 27, 2016, brothers, Raymond Baker and Ernest Baker, and 2 sisters, Mary Rieger and Marie Alexander.
