Garnet Viola (Ashley) Parker

Garnet Viola Ashley Parker, age 92 years, a former resident of New Lexington, OH and more recently a resident of Elkins, WV where she made her home with her daughter and son in law, Carolyn and Wayne Morgan departed this life Wednesday afternoon, November 9, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of West Virginia Caring.

She was born Thursday, September 11, 1924 at Wilbren, OH, a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Stevens Ashley.  On October 17, 1940 at New Lexington, OH, she was married to Benjamin Charles Parker, who preceded her in death December 29, 2011.  Surviving are three sons, Robert Ben Parker and wife Wanda of Rushville, OH, Richard Lee Parker and wife Pam of Orlando, FL, Jack Ray Parker and wife Debbie of New Lexington, OH; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Morgan and husband Wayne of Elkins; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and seventeen great great grandchildren.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Preceding her in death are one daughter, Trixie Lou Parker; four brothers, Harry, Woodrow, Walter, and Jesse Ashley; and two sisters, Ruth McHenry, and Juanita Cutter. 

She attended school in Goshline and Moxahala, OH, had worked as an assembler for United Technologies, was a member of the United Pentecostal Church at New Lexington, OH and attended the Refuge at Gilman. 

Calling hours will be held from 6pm-8pm on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio and from 12noon-1pm on Monday at the church.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, November 14, 2016 at The Anchor Church of New Lexington, 379 Kennedy Drive, New Lexington, Ohio with Reverend H. Richard Young officiating.

Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery.
