Jarvie V. Johnson

Jarvie V. Johnson, 86, of New Lexington, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Fairfield Medical Center.

He was born May 3, 1931, in Barnetts Creek, Kentucky, son of the late Martin and Ada Pennington Johnson.

He married Cristal Saylor on October 6, 1951.

Jarvie was a United States Army veteran; he was owner and operator of J.V. Johnson Tree Company for many years. He loved the outdoors, crop and cattle farming, and hunting and fishing. He enjoyed his tractors and was a fan of tractor pulls along with his son.

Jarvie is survived by his son: Hobart “Bart” (Carla) Johnson of Junction City; three grandchildren: Stacey (Justin) Emmert, Tiffiny (Justin) Miller and Michael (Elizabeth) Novick; three great grandchildren: Jakob & Jarod Emmert and Olivia Miller; two sisters: Gladys Blair of West Virginia and  Mary (Bascom) Ward  of Kentucky; one brother: Leroy (Jewel) Johnson of Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Beatrice Trent of Port Clinton; a brother-in-law, Wayne (Sue) Saylor of New Lexington and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jarvie was preceded in death by his wife, Cristal Johnson; an infant sister, Christine Johnson; a brother, Jerry Johnson; an infant great grandson: Delbert Moody, III and a brother-in-law, Dale Trent.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM, with a Eulogy given at 1:00 PM at the Roberts Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be at 1:15 PM, in New Lexington Cemetery with Pastor Art Minneham officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Onward Grace Christian Church, 399 Lincoln Park Drive, Suite C, New Lexington, Ohio 43764.
