Jerald “Jerry” McTeague, 89, of New Lexington, Ohio died at 10:00pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at his home.

Born May 7, 1927 in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Arthur P. “Beanie” and Mary Donahoe McTeague.

Jerry was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, where he was an M.P and was in the Army Band playing for dignitaries in the European Theatre;

He was employed at the Perry County Engineers Office for many years; member of Saint Rose Catholic Church, B.P.O.E #509, New Lexington; Perry County Veterans Service Commission;  Perry County Alzheimer’s Association and was a Tennessee Squire.

Jerry was a true gentleman, Irish to the core; an avid golfer with 5 Holes in One; he knew no strangers, loved to BS and he loved playing cards at the K of C.

Survived by his loving and devoted daughters, Ellen (Terry) Moore of Zanesville, Anne (Roger) Burnett of Zanesville, Mary Pat (Clay) Hanson of McConnelsville and Barbara (Jeff) Hill of Somerset; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a brother, Michael McTeague of St. Clairsville.

In addition to his parents, preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. “Peggy” Paxton McTeague on January 23, 2013; sister, Rose Polly McTeague and lifelong friend, Jimmie D. Thompson.

Calling hours will be held at 2-4pm and 6-8pm with Rosary at 7:45pm on Friday, February 3, 2017 and from 10-11am on Saturday at Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, Corner of North Main and West Water Streets, New Lexington, Ohio with Father Paul Noble as celebrant.

Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery with graveside military services by the Leo Ryan Post #58 American Legion, Somerset, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perry County Cancer Alliance, P.O. Box 724, New Lexington, Ohio 43764.
