THE Margie Auker went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 after a brief illness.

Margie was born in Crooksville, Ohio on April 12, 1924 to the late Florence and Alice Adams Robinson. On May 22, 1946, after he returned from fighting in WWII, she married Walter Auker. She lived in the New Lexington area her whole life, and attended Free Methodist Church in New Lexington and Millertown Church of Christ.  She worked at Hull Pottery and at Sunbridge Nursing and Rehab Center.

Margie spent most mornings eating eggs and bacon and drinking coffee while doing the crossword and cryptogram in the newspaper. She often called her sisters to see if they had figured out the answers, too. She liked watching her “stories” in the afternoons. Margie’s homemade noodles were second to none and the highlight of the food table at family reunions. She grew beautiful flowers and juicy tomatoes and was a proud member of the Six Mile Turn Good Neighbors Club.  She was an avid bowler and bowled on leagues into her 80s. Putting puzzles together was a favorite pastime in her later years and she enjoyed writing poetry. She enjoyed visits from her family at Fairview Assisted Living in New Lexington where she lived for four years and at The Oaks in Zanesville where she spent her last six months. She was a favorite of the nurses and aides. She loved leopard print and having her nails painted, most recently in a pink glitter color called Spitfire, which was fitting indeed. She loved playing Bingo, even in the nursing home where she played for quarters. She went on many excursions the nursing home offered, including a canal boat ride and shopping trip in the last few months. She never let an opportunity pass her by, and when the opportunity came to pass, she let go peacefully in her sleep. She deeply impacted the life of every person she loved, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind four daughters, Judy (John) Moffett of Ashland, Marilyn Nicholas, Lori Tokie, and Dianna Van Matre (David Berry), all of New Lexington, two sisters, Elsie Robinson and Louise (Warren) Cook of New Lexington; foster brother, Gene Boley, thirteen grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, preceded in death by husband Walter Auker, her daughter Sharon Wiseman, her brother James Robinson, son-in-law, Nick Nicholas and several close companions.

Calling hours will be held from 2pm-6pm on Friday, October 21, 2016 and from 10am-11am on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to Fairview Assisted Living, 5550 State Route 37, E., New Lexington, Ohio 43764.
