Mary E. (Young) Hampton

Mary Elizabeth Hampton, 98, went home to  the Lord on July 14, 2016.  She was born to the late Charles and Idah Young on May 29, 1918 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

Mary lived 65 years of her life on a farm just outside of Junction City, Ohio. During her lifetime she was an active member of the Junction City United Methodist Church.  Through the years she played the organ, held the office of church treasurer, was a district delegate, and a member of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service.  She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Carnation Chapter.

Mary enjoyed generously giving her time to her family and friends, whose lives she abundantly blessed with her loving spirit and servant’s heart.  Her quick wit brought joy to everyone around her.  She was a hard worker and an avid gardener who loved baking, sewing, and spending time with her many grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed.

Survived by her son, Jerry (Pamela) Hampton of New Albany; daughter, Donna (Louie) Fletcher of Lancaster; grandchildren, Wesley (Jessi) Hampton, Leanna Hampton, Julie (George) McGill and Mike (Amy) Fletcher; 7 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Hampton; her son, Tom; 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jeff; 1 great-grandchild, Ryan; 3 brothers, Cloyce Young, Burnett Young and Marcellus Young.

Calling hours will be from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Sunday, July 17, 2016 and 10-11am on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Burns officiating.

Burial will in New Lebanon Cemetery, Junction City, Ohio.
