Paul E. Penrod, 80, of Six Mile Turn, died at 1:05 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Genesis Care and Rehab of New Lexington.

Born one of 10 children on May 10, 1934 to the late Eric and Annice (Wolfe) Penrod.  Paul was a lifetime resident of Six Mile Turn; retired employee of Newark Air Force base; member of the Moxahala United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Post 0188 out of New Lexington.  He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Paul was an avid outdoorsmen, and loved traveling to Colorado with family and friends.  He especially enjoyed going hunting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He also enjoyed airplanes and attending airshows, he also with his brother James built and flew a homemade glider on the family farm.

Survived by son, Greg (Cindy) Penrod of Crooksville, Ohio, daughter, Sheree (Bill) Lucas of Corning, Ohio,  son, Michael Penrod of Bowling Green, Ohio; grandchildren, Eric (Catherine) Penrod, Luke (Michelle) Penrod, Amy (Paul) Wright and Angie (Davo) Fondale;  nine great-grandchildren; Blake, Dylan, Bryanna, Ethan, Natalie, Elizabeth, Emily, Maddy and Aubrey; and brother,  James Penrod of Crooksville.

In addition to his parents and 8 siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty K. on July 29, 2012.  They were married on March 24, 1954.

Calling hours will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. with American Legion services at 7:30pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill St., New Lexington, Ohio, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Moxahala United Methodist Church with Sanford Short officiating. 

Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery, Portersville with graveside military services by John Tague Post #0188, American Legion of New Lexington, Ohio.

The family expresses their appreciation for the love and support given to Paul and Betty during their stay at Genesis.
