Wanda L. Mottern, 80, of New Lexington, died at 11:17am, Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Genesis Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville, Ohio. She was born April 4, 1935 in Somerset, to the late Forest and Viola Kokensparger Young.
She was employed with The Peoples National Bank from 1953 to 1956 and was a homemaker. Wanda was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a founding member of the United States Army Museum and a member of the D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary.
Wanda is survived by her son, Robert A. (Connie) Mottern of New Lexington; grandchildren, April (Andy) Finck of Junction City and Allison (Chris) Brown of Ft. Polk, LA; great-grandchildren, Clay Finck and Aubrey Brown and companion and care giver, Ken Leckrone.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Mottern on May 23, 1994; one brother, Donald Eugene Young and one sister, Forest Yvonne Whaley.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 -8:00 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, where funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, June 24, 2015 with Reverend Richard Newlon officiating. Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery. The Mottern Family would like to recognize the staff of Morrison House and Home Hospice staff members, Patty and Kim for the excellent care and dedication they showed to their mother.
