Adriatha Womack Obituary

Adriatha Louise (Wallace) Womack, 100, of Zanesville, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at her home.

Born September 11, 1923 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Culvy and Alberta (Villars) Wallace.

Louise was the 2nd oldest of 16 children. She lived most of her life in Milton West Virginia before coming to Ohio, she lived a long good life. Louise enjoyed telling stories of the days she took care of Polio patients when she was 17, working for the Sylvania Company during WW2 making things for the war, when the Ohio river wasn’t as wide or deep and they crossed it on a ferry from Huntington, WV to Chesapeake, Ohio, riding in wagons pulled by horses until her dad got his first model T car. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, playing games with her grandchildren, especially Scrabble and Yahtzee, learning to use her iPad and reading on her kindle, she loved working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Louise loved to fly and travel every chance she had. She cherished the time spent with family, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Louise retired from the Homestead Nursing Home in 1988 after 12 years of service, she never drove a car but she never missed a day’s work in that 12 years. After she retired, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law the last 35 years.

Louise in survived by her daughter, Vickie (Bob) Woodrum of Zanesville Ohio; daughter-in-law, Carolyne Wallace of South Bend Indiana; 7 grandchildren, Tracy (Tim) Gurewicz of Lancaster Ohio, Tim (Shannon) Woodrum of Bellefontaine Ohio, Teresa (Brian) Holden of Valley City Oh, Billie Jo (Jason) Baer of Marion Ohio, Matt (Melissa) Woodrum of Sugar Grove Ohio, Tim Wallace(Penny Derrickson) of Osceola Indiana, Jackie (Lanee) Wallace of Granger Indiana; 2 sisters, Karla (David) Woodrum of Rockbridge Ohio, Shirley Mount of Gary Indiana; Sister-in-laws, Maxine Wallace of Columbus Ohio and Lillie Wallace of Florida; 3 brothers, Leon (Wanda) of Emmett Idaho, Robert (Kay of Columbus Ohio and Larry Wallace of Milton West Virginia; she leaves 27 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Paul T. Wallace and David K. Womack; seven brothers, Vernon, Ivan, Leonard, Gene, Corkey, Edsel and Darrell Wallace; three sisters, Maxine Chapman, Reva Wood and Roberta Wallace.

Calling hours will be held 12pm-1pm with funeral services at 1:00 on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Oakfield Baptist Church, 3568 State Route 13, Crooksville, Ohio with her nephew Vernon L. Wallace officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oakfield Cemetery, Crooksville, Ohio.

A gathering will be held at the Oakfield Baptist Church following the burial.
