We are very sorry to have heard of her passing. We did not know Gene, We only get the newspapers on the weekend and did not know until Diana went to K & D sometime this week to eat and they had said about her passing and last week I didn't go to the stores because I (Susan) wasn't feeling well. You are in my prayers. With Love and Condolences, Susan, Geraldine Avon and Diana Dickerson

GENE, BOB, DON, MIKE, & CINDY,
Heartfelt condolences from the Swallow family, Bill, Ted, & myself. I remember receiving this e-mail notification when there was only one posting on this page and not being able to put together the words to make a post. I cared very much for your wife/mom, and she shared how she watched us Swallow boys grow up across the street when we visited our grandmother. She was always a very loving, kind, and gracious woman. In the last couple of decades I would mainly see your mom & dad at American Legion Banquets & became closer. We would always seek each other out and update our lives/families, and your mom always ended with " I love you" and I, the same. You don't realize how special she made me feel, but I knew how much more she felt for her family!!! I will truly miss her and hope to come down before the funeral. Gene, you've been a wonderful husband to an extraordinary woman! All of you will be in my thoughts and prayers, and may God give you comfort and peace at this time.

Heartfelt prayers go out to the Poling family. May God comfort you during these difficult times. We have many fond memories of Esther-- as she always made sure that we knew how much she cared about us. To Bob and Don, thanks for sharing your Mom with us, she is truly something special. I recall my Mom telling me in later years, that a birthday in the Rockwell family meant that Esther was delivering food and a birthday cake up on the hill above the reservoir. What a gracious lady--Rest in Peace!

Cindy, Gene and family,
I have such fond memories of Ester. What a loving and gentle spirit she was. I remember coming to the house on Mill St. beginning when I was in kindergarten. There was never a shortage of snacks, hugs, but most importantly encouragement. Being positive and seeing "the bright side" were 2 of many things she did well. I always felt welcome and a part of the family. That continued until well past high school graduation.
I have special memories of her serving us free meals through the window at the old "Dinner Bell" as well as making us little side salads in orange juice glasses when we were young. I learned something valuable from her a long time ago. She never wanted help cleaning up after a meal. She wanted to visit in "the room". She'd say, "There'll be time for that later. We're making memories now."
She was the matriarch of a beautiful family who I was blessed to spend much time with over the years. Her legacy will certainly live on through those who loved her most.
We just lost Dad on August 23rd this year. I know your grief and pain all too well. You have been and will continue to be in my prayers as you adjust to your "new normal".
Thanks be to God for the 85 years he loaned her to this world. What a blessing she was.
I am so sorry for your loss.

Please accept my condolences and prayers to help comfort you.
Prayers and fond memories are what we have to remember our dearly departed. And Ester, you left us with many fond memories and smiles.

Ester was one very dear friend of our family. Her visits while Dad was ill and Mom was aging, will never be forgotten. She would bring by a beautiful poppy seed cake, or just drop off a hamburger to Mom for no reason, just pure love.

Her smiles were never ending. She was always so gracious and would invite me in for whatever was baking in her kitchen.

I know she fought a good battle during her lengthy illness with grace and strength.
May the love of family and friends comfort you during these difficult days, Oh Poling family, my most heartfelt condolences. Ester, you will always be remembered!
