Joseph S. Botterill, 67, of Malta, Ohio died at 1:10am on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at his home.
Born August 3, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Edgar and Lois Mahoney Botterill.
Joseph was a United States Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam; he also served in the Ohio National Guard; he was Lutheran by faith, an avid golfer, loved to fish and hunt; President and founder of the local porch sitters union of 555; most importantly he was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and Friend.
Survived by his wife of 38 years, Gayle Masters Botterill of the home; daughter, Michelle (Robert) Osborne of Hilliard; 3 grandchildren, Savannah Gayle, Karalee and Chase; great-grandson, Liam Joseph; 2 sisters, Sandra Gossman and Lois Dameron; brother, Paul Botterill; several nieces and nephews, including, Stacie (John) Cope, Ron Dameron, David (Virginia) Perry and their families; loved by many close friends, including John and Cheryl Eltringham.
In addition to his parents, preceded in death by 2 brothers-in-laws, Ron Dameron and William Gossman.
Calling hours will be held from 5pm-7pm with a memorial service at 7:00pm with Pastor Justin VanOrman officiating and military honors by John Tague Post #188, American Legion, New Lexington, Ohio on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
