Leona M. (Eddy) Fitch

Leona M. Fitch, 92, of Corning, Ohio died at 5:35pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Genesis-New Lexington Care Center, New Lexington, Ohio.

Born January 9, 1925 in Corning, Ohio to the late Jasper and Veda Jones Eddy.

Leona taught school for 15 years and faithfully looked after and nursed her husband, Rodney for 20 years; member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Corning, Ohio; retired State Teachers of Ohio; she loved to garden and loved her grandchildren, they were the “light of her life.”

Survived by 2 sons, Richard E. (Christine) Fitch of Junction City and Dennis R. (Teri) Fitch of Zanesville; 3 grandchildren, Toby, Dawn and Shane (Heidi); 3 great-grandchildren;  2 step-grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) and Kai (Cadence); 5 step-great-grandchildren and a special niece, Linda Coe.

In addition to her parents, preceded in death by her husband, Rodney C. Fitch on August 16, 2003; 3 brothers, Patrick, Gerald and Ben; sister, Mary.

Calling hours will be held from 1:00pm-4:00pm on Sunday, November 19, 2017 and from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday at the Funeral Home with her son,  Pastor Richard E. Fitch and Pastor Michael Stover  officiating.

Burial will follow in Oakfield Cemetery, Oakfield, Ohio.
