Robert Charles Mascaro, 56, known to friends and family as Bob, and Bobby, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born March 8, 1961 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Dorothy Heathman Mascaro and Thomas Mascaro.
A resident of New Lexington, Ohio, Bobby lived at Mount Aloysius, where he played basketball and participated in the Special Olympics at Ohio State.
Bobby worked for many years in the New Lexington community, including bagging groceries at Kroger and various jobs at PerCo. Always smiling, he had a love of spaghetti, peanut butter cups, dancing and knitting. He used to watch all the football games and carry a legal pad to record the scores. He’d say the Miami Dolphins won, even when they lost.
Bobby is survived by his brother, John Mascaro of Tallahassee, FL, and sisters Linda Mascaro, of Waianae, HI, and Tammy Shackleford of Atlanta, GA, along with 3 nieces and 4 nephews. Bobby also leaves his “angel on earth”, guardian, Carma Jean Rausch, and her family who cared for Bobby as one of their own.
In addition to his parents, preceded in death by Marjorie Saffell – “Mom,” his caregiver at Mt. Aloysius for many years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21. 2017 with Father Daniel Swartz officiating.
Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery.
