William A. Hinkle, 83, of New Lexington, Ohio died at 6:52 pm on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his home after an extended illness.
Born September 20, 1933 in Crooksville, Ohio to the late Pearl George and Florence Starner Hinkle.
He was a member of the Seabees in the United States Navy; graduated from McLuney High School in 1951, where he played basketball; retired from Owens Corning; he enjoyed dirt races, going to high school basketball and football games and watching the Ohio State University basketball and football games.
Survived by sons, Jerry (Diane) of New Lexington, Roger (Lisa) of New Lexington, Thomas (Angel) of Crooksville, Stephen of Crooksville and Brian of New Lexington; brothers, Max (Susan) Starner, Donald (Shirley) Hinkle and Randall (Stacy) Hinkle; sisters, Marsha (Chuck) Beatrice, Beth (Bruce) Hulme, Patsy (Rudy) Crawford and Karen (John) Stoneburner; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, preceded in death by his wife, Hazel E. Hinkle on December 21, 2015; a great-grandson, Caleb; sister, Wanda Jean Hinkle and step-mother, Rose Smith Hinkle.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm & 6-8pm on Monday, September 11, 2017 and from 10-11am on Tuesday at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Greg Inboden officiating.
Burial will be at the Community Gardens Cemetery, New Lexington, Ohio with graveside military services by John Tague Post #188, American Legion, New Lexington.
