Anna Catherine (Matis) Wilson

Anna Catherine (Matis) Wilson, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at her home in Deerfield Twp., Morgan County.

She was born November 26th, 1931 in San Toy, Ohio to the late Joseph and Anna (Vozar) Matis.

She graduated from Ohio University with a degree in accounting and worked a short time for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base before moving to Cleveland, where she was employed at Eaton Manufacturing. There she met her husband of sixty-seven years, James Edward Wilson. They raised 3 children in the Cleveland area, before moving to Columbus. She then worked for King Equipment Company, Schottenstein’s and the Defense Finance Accounting Services. Her most enjoyable job was her time at Schottenstein’s, She and Jim retired to their farm in Morgan County just a short distance from where she was born. She loved nature, enjoyed gardening and traveling just to see something new. She valued education and was an avid reader, always learning up until the day she passed.

She leaves behind her husband Jim, son Jim in Plain City, son Jeff in Blacklick and daughter Karen at the home; two sisters, Vernie Webb and Charlotte Simpson; two brother-in-laws, Charles Simpson and Pat Roberts, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna, brother, Charles :Mac” and sister-in-law, Bonnie, sisters, Elizabeth Matis, Teresa Tracey and brother-in-law, George, Emma Graves and brother-in-law, John, Eva Matis, Josephine Foster and brother-in-law, Charles, and Julia Roberts.

Calling hours will be held from11am-12:30 on Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday at the Zion Christian Union Church in Portersville, Ohio.

Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Portersville, Ohio.
