Beatrice M. Southwick, 99, of New Lexington, Ohio passed away at her home on December 5th, surrounded by her family.
She was a gentle, graceful and quiet woman who loved spending time with her family and many friends.
Bea was born on May 14, 1922 to the late Wilbur R. and Ethel M. (Snider) Hammond.
A strong and independent character led her to join the Marine Corps Womens Reserve, followed by a career with both the IRS and OhioBell.
Bea was a faithful, longtime member of St Rose of Lima Parish, with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Tim) Paxton of Junction City; two grandsons, Matthew, Junction City and Kevin, Phoenix, AZ; brother Donald Hammond of Columbus, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis E. Southwick, granddaughter, Stephanie Paxton, sister, Evelyn (John) Kerber, brothers, Richard, Roy (Mary Pat), and Ernest Hammond as well as sister-in-law Glenna Hammond.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 3-7pm with Rosary at 7pm at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington.
Mass will be held at 11am Friday, December 10, 2021 with Fr. Lehigh celebrant at St. Rose Church, 309 N Main Street, New Lexington.
Burial to follow at New Lexington Cemetery, gravesite service provided by Junction City American Legion.
