Catherine L Sweeney

Catherine Louise Sweeney, age 73, of Junction City, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Cathy was born March 28, 1949, to Rodney and Betty (Dreese) Fisher.

Cathy was a proud grandmother and mother, as well as a teacher, artist, gardener, ceramic aficionado, and care taker. She was active within the Catholic community – working parish festivals, serving meals, and visiting shut-ins. She touched and inspired many lives, especially those who needed it most making sure the people in her life felt included.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Patrick Sweeney; parents Rodney and Betty (Dreese) Fisher; brothers Jack Fisher, Daniel Fisher, and Ed Fisher. Cathy is survived by her three children, Jean (Vila), Damian (Myriah), and Thaddeus (Vicky); four grandchildren Colin, Grant, Patrick, and Scott.

She is also survived by her friend, Thomas Cureton; siblings MaryAnn Tittel, Barb (Bob) Patterson, Joe (Jamie) Fisher, Steve (Mary) Fisher, Emily Storts, Tom (Phillip Watkins) Fisher, Bill Fisher, and Michelle (Jim) Hudak; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Though the family is heartbroken, it’s wholeheartedly believed she is reunited with her soulmate – Bernard Sweeney.

The family is requesting masks during all services. 

Calling hours will be held from 4pm-8pm with a rosary at 8pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, 309 North Main Street, New Lexington, Ohio with Father Todd Lehigh as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Junction City, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Stand Up To Cancer.
