Charles Eugene Reeves, age 87, passed away peacefully March 4, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was the son of the late Ethel and Floyd Reeves. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 6, 1934 and was one of 13 siblings.
He served in the United States Army from December 1956 to December 1958. He worked as an over the road truck driver for Reynolds Aluminum for many years and retired in 1990. His favorite part was traveling west and seeing the beautiful mountains of Wyoming. He was baptized at the New Lexington Christian Church in 1995. He loved God and always worked hard to be a Servant of God. He helped build the new building for New Lexington Christian Church and had a wonderful second family there. Charles, with his wife Darla, spent many years as "Mom and Dad" to many foster children.
He is survived by Darla, his loving wife of 51 years; his children Leah Reeves, Carla (John) Moore, Charlie Reeves, Ed Reeves (Monica), Stephaney Reeves (Ken), Doug (Becky) Reeves, Cindy (Tony) Beard, and Steven Reeves; 10 grandchildren, Tony, Laith, Abby, Lily, Jacob, Bethany, Destyn, Taya, Karli, Eli; 5 great-grandchildren, and siblings Betty, Delano, Alfred, Patty and Carolyn as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his best friend, Tim (Pam) Baker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Evelyn Reeves who passed away in 1970, and siblings Doris, Evelyn, Raymond, Vicky, Harold, Wilma and Norma.
Calling hours will be from 1-3 pm on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 with funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Jim Baston officiating at the New Lexington Christian Church, 5010 State Route 13, NE, New Lexington, Ohio.
Immediately after the funeral service, Military services will be conducted by James E. Fisher, Post #376, American Legion of Junction City. Cremation will take place after the service.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.
