Clara B. (Whitmer) Burgess

Clara B. Burgess, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 17, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. 

Clara was born on October 10, 1931 in Perry County, Ohio to Walter and Alice Whitmer. She was a member of the Shawnee Mission Church. She was retired from Smead Mfg. Co. in Logan, Ohio. Clara spent her last 17 years in Noblesville, Indiana near her daughter, Leisa (Tom) Randall, and the last three months in their home.

Surviving are her children Diana (Nick) Hart, Clifford (Brenda) Burgess, Leisa (Tom) Randall and Patrick (Donna) Burgess; 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren; sister, Sarah (Whitmer) Mohler; many nieces and nephews, and best friend, Pat Wykle.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband and father of her children, Bobby P. Burgess; siblings, Charles (Opal) Whitmer, Gene (Idella) Whitmer, Jack (Pat) Whitmer, Bernice (Whitmer) (Cecal) Weiss and nieces Patty (Whitmer) (Delbert) Morris and Charlotte (Whitmer) (Jerry) Brown.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 10 am to 12 noon at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio with graveside service immediately following calling hours at New Lexington Cemetery, 440 Swigart Street, New Lexington, Ohio with Reverend Clifford Burgess (Son) officiating.

The family would like to send a special "Thank You" to all of the healthcare teams who have cared for her, and special appreciation to Suburban Home Hospice of Greenfield, Indiana; and special hospice RN, Debbie Strausbaugh.
