Dale L. Compston, 72, of New Lexington, Ohio, formerly of Corning, Ohio died at 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born February 15, 1949 in Rehoboth, Ohio to the late John and Clara Beckett Compston.
Dale was a United States Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam; 2nd of the 2nd Infantry, rank SP5 and grade E5. He received The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal 1st Award, Army Commendation 1st OLC, Bronze Star Medal and The Purple Heart; he was a member of Corning American Legion Post #327; Saint Bernard Catholic Church of Corning; Golden Member of the Corning Eagles and BPOE #509, New Lexington.
Dale was the Vice President of Altier Brothers and was a loving Father, Grandfather and Great-grandfather.
Survived by his children, Mary Clarissa (Curt) Reynolds, Heidi (Ray) St. Clair, Danielle (Jerry) Rehart and Jessica (Jim) Stanford; grandchildren, Jacob (Samantha) Reynolds, Skylynn Penfold, Katelynn Penfold, Robbie Rehart, Isabelle Rehart, Emma Stanford and Austin Stanford; great-grandchild, Piper Reynolds; brothers and sisters, Dorothy Neff, Janet (Rolland) Spring, Paul (Evelyn) Compston, Karen (Jack) Jospeh, Debbie Tracey and David (Rose) Compston; sister-in-law, Leigh Compston.
In addition to his parents, preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katherine N. Reynolds; brothers and sisters, Betty (Jim) Abram, Norma (Junior) Taylor, Jack Compston, Jeannie (Dwayne) Rowland; 2 brothers-in-law, Larry Neff and Frank Tracey.
Calling hours will be held from 4pm-8pm with Corning Eagles service at 7:30pm and a limited Elks service at 7:45pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, corner of North Main and West Water Streets, New Lexington, Ohio with Father Todd Lehigh as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery with military graveside services by the United States Army and the Corning American Legion.
