A funeral service for Darlene Bookman, 75 of Somerset will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Queen officiating. Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery.
Mrs. Bookman died Tuesday February 20, 2018 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. She was born July 21, 1942 in Somerset to Frank K. and Genevieve (Russell) Williams.
Darlene retired from the New Lexington City Schools with 27 years as a bus driver. She had attended the New Lexington First United Methodist Church and the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Tuesday Morning Housewives Bowling League, CCL Mother’s Club and had served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts. She spent several years as an aide at the New Lexington Health Center.
She is survived by her children, William R. “Rusty” (Jody) Smith of Somerset, Richard Smith of Columbus, Ken (Kris) Smith of New Lexington, Theresa (Mark) Schultz of Lancaster, Ed (Ieshiea) Bookman of Junction City, Eric (Jennifer) Bookman of Highlands Ranch, CO, Debbie (Terry) Roberts of New Lexington; thirty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Chute of Somerset; sister-in-law, Sally Williams of New Lexington; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Virgil (Virginia) Williams. Laberta (Paul) Swinehart, Bonnie (Don) Studer, Ronald Williams, Robert Williams; and an infant child.
Calling hours will be observed on Friday February 23, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or American Cancer Society.
