Dean Stanley Colborn, 71, passed from this life to be with his savior and Lord Jesus Christ on January 13, 2025, surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer.
Born on June 24, 1953, he was the son of the late Stanley and Thelma (Crook) Colborn. He was a lifetime resident of New Lexington, Ohio and a 1971 graduate of New Lexington High School. He also had attended Marietta College on a football scholarship. Dean had worked in the oil and gas field, in the coal mines and retired from The Ohio Department of Transportation.
Dean was a member of New Lexington Elks Lodge #509 for over 50 years. He held most of the offices through the years, ending with being a Past Exalted Ruler (PER) and a District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler.
Dean also was a proud member of the “Panther Brotherhood”. These football teammates stick together to the end, always supplying support and love to each player and their family. One of their proudest moments was being members of the 1970 State Champion football team.
Dean also could often be found on a golf course or cheering on his Buckeyes. He will be rooting for the next game from a higher place.
Dean’s greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Carla (Cronin) Colborn. Dean was a romantic at heart and loved Carla with his very last breath. Dean was also the proud father of Lejay Colborn, of Clovis, New Mexico, and Chelsea (Lloyd) Simcox of New Lexington. However, the two people who could always make Dean laugh and smile were his two grandchildren, Erin and Colby Simcox.
Dean is also survived by his sister, Darlene (Mike) Watts; brother and sister – in – laws, Marvin Veyon, Janet (Dan) Stanton, Paula Cannon, John Cronin and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, dean is preceded in death by his father and mother – in – law, John and Mary Cronin; brother, Ron Colborn; sisters, Monna Colborn, Donna Veyon, Linda Householder, Carla Jo Moore and sister – in – law, Mary Colborn.
