Donald W. “Hillbilly” Sandlin, 73, of New Lexington, Ohio died at 12:30pm on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Altercare of Somerset, Ohio.
Born December 10, 1947 in Wise, Virginia to the late Don and Evelyn Bolden Sandlin.
Don was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam; he received the Purple Heart; retired corrections officer from SCI.
Survived by children, Ashley (Chris) Taylor, Jessica (Dominic) Spohn, Magnum (Elizabeth) Saffell, Chad (Vicki) Saffell, Stefani (Pat) Ratliff, Adam Pingle, Stephanie Sandlin Benson and Scott Sandlin; several grandchildren; brother, Robert (Mary) Sandlin; sisters, Sara (Clarence) Saffell, Lois Sandlin, Glenda Freetag and Mary Waddle; his dogs, Peanut and Oreo.
In addition to his parents, preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Saffell Sandlin; brothers, Eddie and Jim Sandlin; sister, Debbie Hartsock.
Private calling hours will be held for family and friends at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
