Gary Lawson Obituary

Gary Wayne Lawson, 66 of Corning, Ohio died of an apparent heart attack on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Country Lane Gardens Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Pleasantville, Ohio.

Born August 3,1955 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Roy Edward I & Mary Alice Rabern Lawson.

Gary was a United States Army veteran, joining the service right out of high school; he was a traveler, having lived and worked in most of the lower 48 states; as his father’s health declined, Gary returned to Ohio to take care of him, and then his mother; he made his home in Congo, where he made friends of his neighbors & lived with his rescue dog, Lady; when Gary became ill with diabetes & CHF in 2018, he was no longer able to care for himself, his brother Richard became his POA after Gary went to live in a nursing home.

Survived by his sister, Teresa Kiser, brothers, Dave of Hogansville, Georgia, Richard of New Lexington, and Randy of Shawnee; stepsons, Kenny, Floyd, and Rick; and Uncle John Raybern of Virginia.

In addition to his parents, preceded in death by his brother, Roy Lawson II; ex-wife, Avis and nephew, Eric Lawson and sister-in-law, Tami Lawson.

There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Memorial service will set at a later date.
