James Thorp

James Thorp, 71, of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in Roseville, Ohio.

Born April 15, 1952 in Crooksville, Ohio to the late Emmit Smith and Florence Spires.

James was a U.S. Army Veteran, during the Vietnam era. He was self-employed as a truck driver and he enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, James (Misty) Thorp; daughters, Kimerly (James) Fraunfelter, Terree (Vince Johnson) Thorp, Lacy (Matt) Wolford; sisters, Carla Bolin, Bonnie (Ed) Whittington, Delilah Newell and Karen (Steve) Moorehead; brothers, Bill (Twila) Thorp, Jeff (Vickie) Smith and David (Jodi) Smith and Sister-in-law, Dottie Thorp, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Thorp; step father, Carl Thorp and brothers Carl Thorp and Gary Smith. 

Calling hours will be held 4:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday August 17, 2023 at the funeral home with Tiffany Pelfrey officiating.
