John Mears

John R. Mears, 64, of Zanesville, Ohio died at 8:05pm on Monday, June 12, 2023 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Born July 24, 1958 in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Alfred Mears and Louella Pettet Mears of Zanesville.

John retired from Schwebel’s  Baking, where he ran the bread sales route; he loved working on cars, fishing, camping and anytime spent with family; he was a member of Tree of Life Christian Fellowship of Zanesville; devoted husband and father, wonderful father to kids, step-child and grandchildren; he was a very honorable and humble man,

Survived by his wife, Sylvia Lynn Jackson-Mears; children, Jessica (Joseph) Miller, John (Trish) Mears, II., Heather (Jeff) McAfee and Justin (Victoria) Mears; step-daughter, JayLynn Jackson; 12 grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Michaela, Harley, Levi, John, III, Ethan, Miracle, Adrionna, Isabella, T.J., and Jeffrey and 1 great-grandchild, Everleigh;  brothers and sisters, Lena (Edward) Kline, Ruth Brown, Wanda (Donald) Shaffer, Diana (Mark) Cavinee, Rebecca (Michael) Duncan, Martha Mears and Anthony (Judith) Mears.

In addition to his father, preceded in death by brother-in-law, William Brown.

Calling hours will be held from 5pm-7pm on Monday, June 19, 2023 and 11am-1pm on Tuesday at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Fannin officiating.
