John "Bob" R. Cote

John R. “Bob” Cote, 76, of Corning passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Genesis Healthcare in Zanesville, Ohio following a brief illness.

Born May 24, 1948 in Rehoboth, Ohio to the late Joseph Cote and Ruth Ratliff.

Bob was Methodist by faith and he attended the New Lexington Schools, then went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp. He held many jobs in New Lex\Perry County area including Sky Line drive-in, True-Value Hardware, ITT Higbee, Tolley T.V. and went on to retire from Advanced Auto in Zanesville.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved cats Divina, Bugs, Peek-a-boo and Nugget. Rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals and tinkering in his shed fixing mowers and anything else that needed fixing. Throughout his life ne spent many days and nights working on cars, T.V.s, appliances and you name it, he could fix it.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Donna Cote; daughters, Sherri (Jack) Maxwell of Roseville and Michelle (Scott) Wingrove of Lancaster; son, Jeffery Pittman of the home; grandchildren, Sophie Pittman of the home whom he and his wife have raised most of her life, Joe Fleming and Jamie Fleming of Roseville and Katie Klinger of Lancaster; great-grandchildren, Joey, Marleigh and Bo; siblings, Kathy (Paul) Rose, Barb (Bill) McNulty all of the Villages in Florida, Donna Cote and Gilbert (Jenny) Cote all of Commerce, Georgia, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dora Ansel and Bonnie Miller; and his brother, Kenneth “Butch” Cote.

A dignified cremation will be performed, followed by a Graveside Service by Reverend Mary Perani officiating  and Military Services by John Tauge Post #188, American Legion of New Lexington, Ohio at 1:00pm on Friday, August 9, 2024 at the New Lexington Cemetery, New Lexington, Ohio where he will be laid to rest by his sister, Dora.
