Joseph "Joe" W. Ervin, Sr.

Joseph “Joe” W. Ervin, Sr. 51, of Nelsonville, formerly of New Lexington, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at O’Bleness Hospital in Athens following a sudden illness. He was born August 24, 1970, in Zanesville, the son of Clarence “Skip” Ervin and Betty (Rutter) Ervin, and married Sheri Espinoza Ervin on September 9, 2017.

Joe loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking and woodworking. He was ornery and had a great sense of humor. Joe never met a stranger and loved helping anyone who needed a hand. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Joe is survived by his wife: Sheri Ervin of Nelsonville; three children: Tila (Chris) Johnson of New Lexington, Tasha (Fanchon) Ervin-Glick of New Straitsville, and Joseph “Joe” W. Ervin, Jr of New Lexington; three grandchildren: Christopher Johnson, Leeah Johnson and Mason Ervin-Wilson; four siblings: Jeannie (Rex) Knipe and Pam Ervin both of New Lexington, James Ervin of Crooksville and Sami (Matt) Trost of Dayton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandparents: Delmar & Marie Rutter.
