Lois F. Mills, of New Lexington died on Sunday, May 29, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Taylor (Bruce) Stiles and Viola (Mitchell) Stiles. She was a member of Norval Park Church of Christ and a former member of Eagles Auxiliary #2070. She retired from Hamilton Standard (formerly Bryant’s) and enjoyed spending time with her family. Although she battled Alzheimer’s toward the end of her life, she enjoyed reminiscing about when she was young, the large holiday meals she prepared for her family, and when her children were young. Lois loved Christmas and always looked forward to the annual family shopping trip and party. When she was younger, she enjoyed camping and dancing. Until recent years, Lois was an avid reader.
Surviving are her children Bev (Tom) Lucas, Char (Rich) Baker, Joy (Ron) Stephens, Jerry (Marci) Gibbon, and Lonny (Heather) Mills; grandchildren Tommy, Julie, Richie, Amber, Ashley, Stefanie, Scott, Naomi, Veronica, Jaymi, Marlie, Lillie, Becky, Mike, Jon, Steve, Jesse, Bruce, Aaron, Justine, and Emily; 29 great-grandchildren, including her special buddy Brent Sandbrink; son-in-law Willis Thompson and daughter-in-law LeeAnne Gibbon; brothers-in-law Bob Shiplett and John Danielson; sisters-in-law Florence (Paul) Thomas, Frances Gelzhiser, and Mona Morgan; her great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John; daughter Lynda Thompson and son Tom Gibbon III; brothers Glen, Wayne, and Ron; sisters Twila, Betty, Bonnie, and Judy.
The family would like to especially thank Lois’s granddaughter Julie Lucas for the loving care she showed her grandma, Lois’s visiting church friends Barbara Harris and Linda Fleming, New Lexington Healthcare and Rehabilitation where she resided, and the ladies at the Norval Park congregation for the meal preparation.
Friends may call at the South Main Church of Christ at 7 Smith Street in New Lexington from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Monday, June 6 and from 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 7 until the memorial service at 11:00 am. Keith Kress will be officiating. A meal will be provided immediately following the service.
As per Lois’s wishes, she will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lois's name to the Perry County Cancer Alliance or to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association. Interment beside her husband, John, will be held at a later date. Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
