Mary E. (Garey) Altier

Mary E. Altier, 92 of Sayre, Ohio died peacefully at her home on Friday, November 7, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born January 20, 1933 in Moxahala, Ohio to the late Perry and Lucinda Abram Garey.

Mary was a member of the Church of Atonement of Crooksville, Ohio; board member of the Senior Citizens and a Election official for 60 plus years; an avid bowler for 60 plus years; she was a sports and game show fanatic, especially loved watching all of her kids and grandkids play sports, even at times she danced with the Referees.

Mary was the life of the party, loved to dance, loved Elvis and loved her Church. Most importantly she loved her family, spending time with her daughter, Tammy and her special friend, Micha. She loved all of her children, grandchildren and she was a Grandma to everyone. 

Survived by her children, Jeff Altier, Alan (Teresa) Altier and Tammy (Sam) Hahn; grandchildren, Amy Altier, Bobby (Sandra) Altier, Kaleigh (Cedric) Harris, Andy, Sarah and Stephan Fabiny, Amber (Zach) Hedrick, Lacey (Nick) Altier, Nicole (James) Hall, Ashley (Scott) Lantz, Luke (Mariah) Hahn, Brandy Altier (Jeff), Courtney Altier, Alan Altier, Ryan (Megan) Altier and Alicia Altier. 27 great-grandkids and 7 great-great-grandkids; sister, Wilda Willison; brother-in-law, Dusty Altier; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Micha and Bill Costello, Jodie Erwin and Bill McAllister.

In addition to her parents, preceded in death by her husband, Robert Altier; son, Randy Altier; daughter, Debbie Fabiny Altier; great-grandbabies, Kreed and Kalli Hahn; siblings, Thelma Hinkle, Joann Wood, Luke, Bill and Hap Garey.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with Wake Service at 8:00pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 11:00am on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, corner of Main and Water Streets, New Lexington, Ohio with Father Emmanuel Adu Addai as Celebrant.

Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Crooksville, Ohio.
