Ned J. Gohring

Ned J. Gohring passed away Friday, July 28, 2023, at his home in Hemlock. Ned was born August 11, 1945, in Zanesville, the son of the late Floyd and Dorothy (Lanning) Gohring, and grandson of the late Richard and Cassie (Inman) Gohring. He married Sally A. (Van Horn) Gohring on June 4, 1966, and was a member of Oakfield Wesleyan Church.

Ned graduated from Shawnee-New Straitsville High School in 1963, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University in 1967, and his Master’s Degree in 1972.   Ned retired from Southern Local School District following 32 years of service as an educator and administrator. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

Ned is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Sally A. (Van Horn) Gohring; his daughter, Michele (Ron) Hatfield, and his granddaughters, Kelsey Conrad and Karissa (Eric) Wiemer.

Ned was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the Roberts Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon, Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Oakfield Wesleyan Church, 3616 State Route 13 SE, Crooksville, where funeral services will follow at 12 Noon, with Rev. Dan Hinkle and Rev. Jeremiah Toth officiating. Ned will be laid to rest in Dew Cemetery in Glouster.
