Patricia A. (Patti) Heinlein (Brunton) went home to be with her Lord, her brother, sisters and many friends in heaven on August 31, 2022. Patti was born January 27, 1947 in Shawnee, to Emerson and Mary Kathryn Brunton. She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob). They were married June 8, 1985 at Grace Lutheran Church in Columbus and were married for 37 years. Patti was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pickerington. She was also a member of the Perry County Democratic Women where she served as secretary for two years. Patti also attended the Christian Women of Zanesville. She was always active wherever her husband, Pastor Heinlein, was serving.
After graduating from New Lexington High School (1966), Patti left for Columbus where she worked for OSU hospital for three years. Patti lived in many places from Orange Park, Florida to Lorain, Ohio, to New Lexington, (and finally) Warren, Pennsylvania. She worked as a special education aide for the Warren School District at the Sheffield High School from which she retired in 2009. Patti and Bob came back to Perry County, where he had served Holy Trinity and New Lebanon Lutheran congregations for their retirement days.
Besides her husband, Robert Heinlein, Patti is survived by a daughter, Donna (Jim) Leitzel of Columbus, and two granddaughters, Hannah Leitzel of Columbus, Ohio, Lillian (Anthony) Aurand and great-granddaughter Lucie Ann Aurand from Columbus, Ohio. They were her joy of life. She is also survived by sisters; Ethyl Crane of Hemlock, Ohio; Mary (Larry) Touchet of Lafayette, Louisiana and Mildred (Dennis) Frey of Genoa, Nebraska; and Cindy Peterson of Arlington, Virginia. Roy Crabtree of New Lex and Mike Miller of Greer, South Carolina, her two brothers-in-law’s and two sister-in-law’s, Barbara Heinlein of Columbus and Sharon Heinlein of Grove City, also survived her. There are many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as one special nephew Dusty Frey.
Patti was preceded by her parents, Emerson Brunton and Mary Kathryn Dupler. Also, a brother, Emerson Jr. Brunton (1955), sisters; Paula Crabtree (2008), and Elizabeth Murphy-Miller (2018).
Calling hours will be held from 4pm-8pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio and from 4pm-8pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8950 Refugee Road, Pickerington, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 8, 2022 the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pickerington, Ohio.
Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery, New Lexington, Ohio.
