Peggy J. Smith, 64 of New Lexington, Ohio passed away Monday, November 11th 2024 at the Genesis Perry County ER in Somerset, Ohio.
Born on November 23, 1959 to the late Robert Luther and Donna Josephine Canny Barnes in Columbus, Ohio.
Peggy was a very hard working and devoted mother and grandmother. She has been described as the rock in her family. She was a lover of the holidays, and keeping family traditions alive. Peggy had many hobbies which included crafting, gardening, reading, and listening to country music; specifically George Strait and Randy Travis. She loved the beach, and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. Peggy was a devout fan of the New England Patriots and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Her favorite color was purple, and she loved cardinals and hummingbirds. She was a devout Christian and spent time doing bible studies and following the works of Charles Stanley. She was a longtime and dedicated employee at the New England Center for Children, a school for autism, in Southborough, Massachusetts; until her retirement in March of 2024. Peggy spent her life doing for others, and considered her daughters and grandchildren her world.
Peggy is survived by daughters, Jennifer A. Smith and Rebecca J. Smith (Paul Konkol); grandchildren, Hunter A. Smith, Olivia J. Smith, Mason E. Konkol, and Lyla M. Konkol; brother, R. Scott Barnes (David Settlemire).
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by ex-husband and father of her children Mitchel A. Smith.
