Ralph Eugene Hazlett, 69 of New Lexington, passed away 12:52 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Fairfield Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born December 21, 1952, in Zanesville, the son of the late Robert J. and Mary E. (Rehart) Hazlett.
Ralph graduated from New Lexington High School in 1971. He enlisted in the United States ARMY in 1971, proudly serving as a Combat Engineer achieving the Rank of 1st Sgt. He earned his Associates Degree in General Science & Engineering from the University of Maryland, and studied Military Warfare at The United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.
Ralph was awarded The Bronze Star among many other Awards and citations and proudly served in South West Asia and the Middle East during Operations Desert Shield and Storm.
While serving in Germany he met the Love of his life Gisela W. (Dittmar) Hazlett and was married on August 20, 1973. Upon retiring from the Army in 1991 (20yrs) He worked for International Paper and Ludowici Roof tile plant until Retiring to the farm in 2016.
In addition to his wife of almost 50 years, Gisela, he is survived by his children, Sandra (Scott) Gall; and Bobby (Jeffreyca) Hazlett; his grandchildren, Brandon “CD” (Jennifer) Gall, Katie Gall, Taylor Gall & Emery Odin “Bub” Hazlett and a great granddaughter, Ava Rose Gall; siblings, Dorothy Holdcroft, Charlie Hazlett, Kathy (John) Euman, Karen (Curtis Holdcroft) Hazlett, Johnny Hazlett, Linda (Greg) Tolliver, Helen (Ray) Renick, Harold (Thelma) Hazlett, Paul Hazlett, Roy (Sue) Hazlett, Rita (Randy) Gorley and Nita Harris.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Mohler; two brothers-in-law, Jim Holdcroft and Burl Harris; a sister-in-law, Debbie Hazlett and many extended family members.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Roberts Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Newlon officiating. Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery where John Tague Post 188 American Legion, New Lexington, will conduct full military honors.
