Richard "Dick" Carney Obituary

Richard “Dick” Carney, 92, of New Lexington, Ohio passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at the Morrison House, Genesis Hospice care in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born on September 25, 1932 in Somerset, Ohio to the late Carl and Mary Reaver Carney.

He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, enjoyed playing Golf, spending winters in Florida after retirement and sitting on his front porch.

Survived by his wife of 67 years, L. Jean Carney; daughter, Nancy (Jim) Metzger of Lenoir City, TN; son, Brian (Keena) Carney of Crooksville; granddaughter, Kylie (Darin) Jones; grandsons, Justin Metzger and Owen Carney; 3 step grandchildren; Great grandchildren, Kassidi Calihan, Connor Calihan, Collin Jones, and Chloe Metzger and 6 step Great grandchildren and 1 step Great Great grandchild; sisters, Joanne Studer, Sue DeLibera and Rita Nace; several nieces and nephews and special care giver and friend, Paula Hammer.  

Preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Carl (Curly) Carney; daughter, Kim Urban and sisters, Dodie Howden, Emma Printz, Thelma Watson, Rosie Dahlgren, Alice Starling and (infant sister), Nancy Carney.
