Robert F. Siemer, 95, of New Lexington, Ohio, former owner/ operator of Red & White and Little Giant Grocery, died December 26, 2023 at his home.
He was born October 23, 1928 in Corning, Ohio to the late Joseph and Louise Franz Siemer.
Bob grew up in Corning, Ohio. After marrying his wife, Marjorie. He purchased the Main St grocery from his father, and they moved to New Lexington. He operated the store for many years and was well known for quality fresh cut meats and home delivery service. After closing his business he worked as a meat cutter/butcher for Save-A-Lot and for his brother Joe at Siemers Distributing Co. and Meat Market. He was known for his beautiful singing voice. He spent many years as a chorus member of the Lions Club Minstrel. He was recognized as being the longest active chorus member prior to the end of the Minstrel shows. Bob is survived by his wife of 72 years, Marjorie Dew Siemer; nine children, Donna (Bill) Gabbard of Junction City, Mary Jean (Doug) Welch of Pataskala, Steve (Carolyn) Siemer of Crooksville, Teresa (Jonathan) Medaugh of Corning, Tom (Chris) Siemer of New Lexington, Tim Siemer of Lancaster, Scott (Mechelle) Siemer of Somerset, Jamie (Kelly) Siemer of Strongsville, and John Siemer of New Lexington; 29 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Siemer of Hammersville and sister, Rosemarie Yuhas of Avon Lake.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his precious grandson Jacob; brothers, Ed, Walter, Joe and his sister Martha.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with Rosary at 8pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, 309 N. Main Street, New Lexington, Ohio with Father Todd Lehigh and Father David Young as Celebrants.
Burial will follow at Community Garden Cemetery, New Lexington.
