Ronald Harris Obituary

Ronald F. Harris, 80, of New Lexington, Ohio, passed away on his birthday, Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 surrounded by his family at the Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.

Ronald was born on August 3rd, 1941 in New Lexington, Ohio to Edgar (Ned) and Sarah (Wolfe) Harris. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in New Lexington in 1959 where he excelled at Football, Basketball and Track. Ron was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife Lee Ann (Carney) Harris that he married on September 29th, 1962. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a Tool and Die Maker at Rockwell International in Newark, Ohio. After retiring he worked many years at TC Woodworking in New Lexington, Ohio.

Ron was known as a loving Son, Dad, Big Brother, Uncle, Grandpa, and Friend to many. He was proud being the oldest brother of 11 children. He cherished his time spent with family. Some of his favorite memories were days he spent golfing with his family members and friends at Perry Country Club. He loved to brag that the Harris family was going to “win all the money”. He was also an avid sports fan, and he loved watching golf (“Go Phil”) as well as all of his favorite sports teams in many different sports (there were many).  His favorite passion was reading & studying the Word of God.  He also loved teaching and leading Bible studies.  Ron led many family and friends to the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his father Edgar (Ned) Harris, his wife Lee Ann (Carney) Harris, In-Laws Fred and Gertrude (Saunders) Carney, and brother Jeffrey Harris. 

Ron is survived by his Mother Sarah Harris, children Dane (Amy) Harris, Keith Harris, Kevin (Tecca) Harris, Jeff (Brandi) Harris, brother’s John (Connie) Harris, Steve (Patty) Harris, Kirk (Susan) Harris, Brian (Julie) Harris, Ben (Linda) Harris and Sisters Darla (Wib) Kirk, Sally Harris, Ruth (Rueben) Webb, Rhonda (Doug) McClintock and sister in law Glenola Harris, grandchildren Lindsey Harris, Joel (Trista) Harris, Chase (Mara) Harris, Aaron Harris, Josh Harris, Taylor Harris, Mckenzie (Katie) Hojara, Hannah Harris, Jared Harris, Cassidy Harris, Caden Harris, Madison (Steven) Bruner, great grandchildren Ashlynn & Mason Smith, Isla and Georgia Harris, Julian & Oaklynn Bruner, Melvin Flynn-Harris, and many nieces & nephews.

The family wants to thank the love and compassion given by all of the many staff members at the Morrison House in Zanesville Ohio.  They were such a blessing to him and to his family.

Calling hours will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday August 6th 2021 at Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home located at 304 Mill St., New Lexington, OH 43764.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 7th 2021 at Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home located at 304 Mill St., New Lexington, OH 43764 and will be officiated by Pastor Chris Brown of Maranatha Bible Church of Zanesville.

Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery with graveside military services by John Tague Post #188, American Legion, New Lexington, Ohio.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Morrison House, Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
