Sandy S. (Middaugh) Rugg, of New Lexington, Ohio died on Friday, August 27th, 2021 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
Born May 2, 1952 in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Carl and Betty Jones Middaugh.
Sandy was a lifelong resident of New Lexington. She graduated from New Lexington High School in 1970. She worked short stints at Peoples State Bank and Rosecrans High School. She also worked seasonally at McLain, Hill, Rugg & Associates, assisting during tax season. Her full-time job was being a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Covenant Community Church where she had many friends that she considered a second family. Sandy loved life. She loved her family. She loved her faith. She loved her friends. She never met a stranger. Her smile and laugh could light up a room. She loved to cook, bake, shop, play cards, work on crosswords and word search puzzles, color, read books and travel. She loved watching sports, especially watching her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Ohio State, Duke Blue Devils basketball, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavs fan. Her life changed dramatically in 2011 when she became paralyzed after an infection damaged her spinal cord. Since that time, her quality of life was not what we wanted it to be. However, nobody showed more grace, grit and mental and spiritual fortitude than Sandy. She never complained and always tackled each day with happiness and thankfulness. She suffered many medical setbacks with numerous infections that wore on her body. She battled back each time, but sadly her body just couldn’t do it anymore. Everyone that knew her, loved her. She was the bravest, toughest, sweetest, loving, compassionate and charitable person we have known. She was our angel on earth. She is now our angel in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Terry Rugg; father Carl Middaugh and mother Betty Jones Middaugh Walker.
She is survived by children Marissa (Eddie) Ward of New Lexington and T.J. (Nicole) Rugg of Thornville; granddaughters, Kate and Elizabeth Ward and Emily Rugg; grandson Andrew Rugg; brothers Dick (Minnie) Middaugh, Jim (Renee Young) Middaugh, Steve (Carol) Middaugh; sister Carla (Ron Baker) Terry; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
