Sharon Sue Hollister, age 78, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023 in Somerset, Ohio. Sharon was born 7/22/1945 in Coldwater, Michigan, daughter of Ruth Shirley Raymond. She spent the first half of her life in Coldwater, where she worked for the State of Michigan. She then transferred to the Saginaw area where she continued with the State until she retired after 30 years of service.
While in Saginaw she attended the Tri City Christian Church, where she served as secretary and various other duties. She was also involved in Teen Challenge and a missionary trip to Russia.
Sharon was an athlete and an avid softball player. Throughout her life she played for many City leagues and Church teams both fast and slow pitch. She was a utility player that could play any position well, but her passion was behind the plate, catching.
Mostly she loved spending time with family. In 2018, she agreed to move to Ohio to be nearer to her daughter, grandson and his family. It was here that she spent the last 5 years of her life.
Surviving family includes daughter Iva Jane (Bill) Moore of Ohio, grandson Aaron (Cassie) Moore of Ohio, great grand children Kolton and Ava Moore of Ohio, sister Janice Gorham of Florida. Her extended family include Ardella Lough of Michigan, Gayle Benzinger of Alabama, Diane (Cliff) Newell of Alabama, Lorraine Shouey of Alabama, Kathy Russell of Michigan, Jackie Jemes of Arizona, Susan (David) Snyder and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents Ruth Shirley Cushman and Stepfather Merle “Tiny” Segur, niece, Misty Jo Gorham, nephew, James Sanderson, and her life long friends Eileen Shouey and Carroll Bebout.
A Celebration of Life is planned at Northview Christian Church 539 N City Union Rd, Coldwater, Michigan on Saturday 9/30/2023,visiting hours from 11am-2pm and Celebration of life at 2pm.
With a burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery 740 S. Mission Rd Mt. Pleasant on Sunday 10/01/2023 at 12:00pm.
