William C. Younkin, Sr.

William Carl Younkin, Sr. 83 of Corning, Ohio passed away at 7:33 am on Saturday, December 17, 2022 following a long term illness at the Genesis Healthcare Center, Somerset, Ohio.

Born September 13, 1939 in Corning, Ohio to the late Hayward “Abe” and Josie Wood Younkin.

He was a supervisor in the oil fields; loved driving the school buses for the kids; loved his children and grandchildren; watching western movies, wrestling, any sports, he was a sports fanatic and watching hummingbirds.

Survived by his daughters, Marie Campbell, Beth (Pete) Pettet, Jo (Bill) Maynard, Patty (Rich) Miller, Peggy (Bob) Post; son, Wilber Younkin; his “adopted” son, Mike Scaggs; followed by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, Martha Belle Dodson Younkin, preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Lucille Crippen Younkin; all of his siblings, Dick & Bob Wood, Ray Younkin, Wilda Faye Younkin, Bonnie Phillips and Nina Durben; son-in-law, Chuck Campbell; grandkids, DJ Taylor, Caleb & Collin Post, Josea Post and Oaklynn Miller and several brothers–in-law’s and sister-in-law’s.

Calling hours will held from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the funeral home with Reverend Mary Perani officiating.

Burial will follow at the Millertown-Oakwood Cemetery.
