Marcella Tackett, 83, of New Lexington, Ohio died at 5:55pm on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Morrison House, Genesis Hospice, Zanesville, Ohio.

Born July 29, 1931 in Long Fork, Kentucky to the late Millis and Kelsie Johnson.

Marcella was an active member of the New Lexington Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess and served on several committees.

Marcella was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother and an avid gardener. Her gift of hospitality and her love of cooking was enjoyed by everyone who visited her home. In 1969, Marcella and her husband founded the Panther Drive Inn, where she was well known for her delicious coney dogs.

Survived by her children, Michael (Cathy) Tackett of GA., Jennifer (Ed) Rugg of TN., Bonita (Phil) Snider of MI., Lana (Pete) Kiener of Somerset, Tracy (Frank) Bond of New Lexington, Bart (Stephanie) Tackett of Granville and Brian (Kelly) Tackett of Cincinnati; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Sally Cardwell of MI., Doris Burke of KY., Rollo Johnson, Omar Johnson and Jim Johnson, all of  Wellston and over 60 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, preceded in death by her husband, Milford Tackett on March 30, 2003; 3 brothers, Perry Johnson, Millis Johnson, Jr. and Stanley Johnson.

Calling hours will be held from 4pm-8pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 and from 10am-11am on Wednesday, March 27, 2015 at the New Lexington Baptist Church, 890 South Main Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday at the church with Pastor James Allison and Pastor Tom Wallace officiating.

Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Lexington Baptist Church or The ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301-5104, www.alsa.org in memory of her late husband, Milford.
