Billie Jo Wnek, 48, of Junction City, OH, died Saturday, August 12, 2017 peacefully at home with her kids and family by her side, after battling a 2-year fight with breast cancer. She was born in Zanesville, OH, the daughter of Floyd and Peggy Thorp of Crooksville, OH.
Billie graduated from Crooksville high school. She worked with the intellectual disabled at Mt. Aloysius in New Lexington, OH for a number of years and then the next 16 years working at Ralston Foods in Lancaster, OH, where she met her husband, Jim Wnek, of 13 years.
Billie was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her 3 beautiful children, Ashley-25, Hannah-10, and Ethan-7; husband, family, and friends. She loved cooking, gardening, shopping the clearance racks and yard sales, and helping others. She saw the best in everyone and never complained, even during her 2-year battle with breast cancer. She would always say, “it could be a lot worse”.
Billie received much love and support from her husband, children, family, friend’s co-workers, and doctors and nurses, as well as the many special people at the Perry County Cancer Alliance. She was truly thankful for all this support. She has said many times that when she gets better she wants to spend her time with others that are fighting this terrible disease alone, without all the loving support she had.
She is survived by her husband Jim Wnek; three children, Ashley Reed, Hannah Wnek, Ethan Wnek; her father Floyd Thorp; her brother Floyd Thorp, Jr.; her sisters Lori (Danny) Thomas, Teresa Desarro, Cathy Hinkle, and twin sister Betty Speakman, her Father and Mother-in-law, John and Judy Wnek of Toronto, OH, her sister-in-law Jenn Reidl, and brother-in-law Joe Wnek, and his wife Renee, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Peggy Thorp, and other family members.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, from 4pm – 8pm with Wake service at 8pm and on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, from 9am – 10:30am at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am on Wednesday at Saint Rose Catholic Church, Main and Water Streets, New Lexington, OH with Father C.M.
