James L. Cox, 80, of New Lexington, Ohio passed away peacefully at 12:00am on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at The Pickering House, Lancaster, Ohio with his wife and children by his side.
Born January 28, 1935 in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Emil and Myrtle Williams Cox.
Jim was Methodist by faith; United States Army Veteran; retired machinist from Lempco; he was an avid sports fan, he loved the Panthers, the Buckeyes and the Detroit Lions and Tigers; he participated in Garden Tractor Pulls; he liked gardening, planting tomatoes and attending old car shows.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Florence Reed Cox of the home; children, Steven (Candice) Cox of New Lexington, Joyce (Curtis) Smith of McConnelsville and Bonnie (Leroy) Garey of New Lexington; 9 grandchildren, Sarah (Wes) Wiseman, Coleman Cox, Kelly Smith, Dalton Smith, Sef Smith, Rhys Smith, Dylan Garey, Allison Garey and Emily Garey; sister, Barbara Danielson of New Lexington and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, preceded in death by 3 brothers, Philip Walter Cox, Charles E. Cox and Edward Cox; 3 sisters, Wanda Jean McCord, Glenna Bell Cox and Clara May Cox.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm & 6-8pm on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the funeral home with Reverend Mary Perani officiating.
Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery with graveside military services by John Tague Post #188, American Legion of New Lexington.
