Lesa Kay (Toney) Brown

Lesa Kay (Toney) Brown of Millersport, Ohio went home to be with the Lord after a heroic 2 ½ year battle against Cancer on February 12th, 2017.  Through this battle Lesa was always surrounded by the love of her family (devoted husband) and dearest friends.

Lesa was born August 9th, 1965 to the late Angelo Toney, Jr. of Crooksville, Ohio and Francis Marie Toney of Heath, Ohio.  Lesa attended New Lexington Schools; later she moved to California and Virginia, eventually returning to Ohio.  Lesa greeted all who entered her life with Love and Kindness, always smiling and laughing.  She often spoke of the Beach and dreamed of Beach vacations.  Lesa even decorated her house, back patio and yard area as a beach oasis’s.

Lesa’s passion in life was caring for her family; she was a loving and dedicated Wife, Mother, Sister and “Mimi”. Lesa was happiest when her home was filled with love and laughter of family and friends.  Lesa loved the Millersport community; to her it felt like home with Family. During the summer months, Lesa had ran the Millersport Village Pool, she loved the Children in her community and in return they loved her right back referring to her as “Momma Lesa”.  Lesa was also active in the Millersport Schools, coaching volleyball and serving as Vice President of Athletic Boosters for a few years.

Surviving Lesa are her beloved husband, Dirk A. Brown and son, Drake A. Brown, both of her home in Millersport; son, Jason Sherrick of Lancaster; daughter, Tamra Wheatley and grandson, Kuade of Somerset; sisters, Ramona (Dan) Rugg of New Lexington and Angela (Mike) Stephens of Newark; mother-in-law, Joyce Gibbs of New Concord; her stepmother of Crooksville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Lesa was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Donald E. Brown.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-6:45pm and Friends are asked to join the family for a Celebration of Lesa’s life at 6:45pm on  Friday, February 17th, 2017 at the Vineyard Grace Fellowship Church, 4905 Jacksontown Road, Newark, Ohio 43056 officiated by Pastor and friend, John Schouten, followed by a gathering for friends and family, food to be provided by the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Vineyard Grace Fellowship Church.
