Welcome to the memorial page for

Jackie Sue (Theisen) Ellis

May 31, 1961 ~ March 4, 2015 (age 53) 53 Years Old

Jacqueline (Jackie) Sue Ellis, 53, of New Lexington, Ohio, was called home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 4th 2015 at 1:15am. Jackie was born May 31st, 1961 in Zanesville, Ohio to John (Jack) and Carol (Slatzer) Theisen.

Jackie was proud to be a member of St. Rose Catholic Church of New Lexington, Ohio, as well as St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Sarasota, Florida. She was the former owner of Sunnyside Flowers and Gifts in New Lexington as well as Floral Design Gallery in Lancaster, Ohio. Most recently she was a Certified Nursing Assistant in Sarasota, Florida where she was so deeply loved by her patients for the amazing care she provided, it was clear that being a caregiver was her calling. Jackie was also a long time member of the Grandview Heights Mother’s Club in New Lexington as well as the BPW in Lancaster.

For more than a decade Jackie was a friend, mentor, and “Mom” to many students, faculty members, and anyone who needed a friend at Fisher Catholic High School. From 1996 when her oldest son John was a freshman until 2008 when her youngest son Anthony graduated she never missed a wrestling match, football, basketball, or baseball game or any of the numerous fundraising events that took place. Her unyielding enthusiasm for all things related to Fisher Catholic and to the Catholic Church as a whole earned her the “Spirit Award” in 1998 which was the 1st time it was awarded to an individual that was not a current or former Fisher Catholic student. She proudly displayed the four leaf clover everywhere she went for the rest of her life.

Jackie had a passion for life and a desire to help others that was unparalleled. She stayed positive and faithful no matter how dire the circumstances were and continued to be the ultimate optimist throughout her entire life. She could see the good in every person and the silver lining in every cloud. She was always smiling, laughing, hugging, and more concerned with other people’s wellbeing than her own. She gave even when she had nothing to give. She was always working but never too busy to talk. It has been said that a life that touches others goes on forever so as long as we continue Jackie’s mission of charity and goodwill she will always be with us in our hearts, in our minds, and in our actions and shall live on forever.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father John (Jack) Theisen, maternal grandmother Florence Slatzer, paternal grandparents Fred and Gladys Theisen, her cousin David Theisen and her very close friend Sandy (Scheffler) Minnick, as well as several special aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her two sons John and Anthony Ellis of Sherman Oaks, California and her “daughter” Erin (Blosser) Allen of Sarasota, Florida; her mother Carol (Slatzer) Theisen of Somerset; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Lisa (Snider) Theisen of New Lexington;  sister and brother-in –law Lisa (Theisen) and Chris Blackwell of Lancaster. Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews, including Brandon (Sarah) Theisen, Brock Theisen, Brittney (Murphy) Eaglowski; Colin and Emily Blackwell as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless close friends that are too numerous to mention.

The viewing will be held on Thursday, March 12th from 2-8pm and from 10am-12:45pm on Friday, March 13th at Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home , 304 Mill Street,  New Lexington, Ohio.
