Leona Alice Garey, 92, of New Lexington, Ohio, formerly of Junction City and Somerset died at 6:16pm on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Genesis-New Lexington Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Leona was born in Pliny, West Virginia on April 14, 1923 to the late William J. and Pearl Mae Hall Litchfield.
Leona loved her family, making crafts such as quilts and doll clothes, knitting, gospel music and her many friends; she was United Methodist by faith.
Survived by one daughter, Shelva J. Mayes (Dale) Guisinger of New Lexington; two sons, Jerry D. (Carolyn) Mayes of Lancaster and Richard L. (Mary) Mayes of Thornville; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell L. “Bub” Garey; two sons, Roger R. Mayes and Larry L. Mayes; four sisters, Florence Hynus, Donna Hamrick, Hazel Rambo and Zelma Christy; three brothers, William, Jr., Cecil and Ted Litchfield; two grandsons, Michael R. Mayes and Jerry L. Mayes.
Calling hours will be held from 4pm-7pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 and from 12:00noon-1:00pm on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home with Reverend Doug Widdowson officiating.
Burial will be in New Lebanon Cemetery, Junction City, Ohio.
